Well, it’s here again! It seems like it was just Mother’s Day a few months ago.
Whether, you are a mother, have a mother, or know a mother, chances are you will be celebrating the holiday next month.
I’m weird about Mother’s Day. I don’t like the pressure of having to choose what to do. Other than sleeping in, (which physically I just can’t do anymore…boo) and not cooking, I don’t really like a big fuss on Mother’s Day. Don’t get me wrong. I absolutely milk it for all it’s worth, but as far as fancy brunch or gifts- nah. Lately I have been using it as my one day to get my whole family to do yard work. Does that seem kind of sad? I already have my eye on what needs to be done this year!
What about gifts?
Personally, I think moms are the easiest people on the planet to gift. Dads, husbands, and kids might disagree.
Of course it’s the thought that counts, right? However, it does feel so good to give a really great gift, and it doesn’t have to be expensive either!
My husband is incredibly creative, and most of my favorite gifts have been the ones he makes with the kids. I am not kidding. I told you I wasn’t fancy. Budget friendly and so appreciated.
If you aren’t creative, or it’s getting too late to make something, try these ideas (in no particular order)
this can include either an experience such as spa, mani, pedi or massage. Don’t have the money for the spa? Bring the spa to you with some great products such as eye cream or Rodan + Fields Lash Boost.
I’ve never been a big blingy gal but I think I am in the minority. There are so many beautiful and fun items to choose from for every budget. You can even make your own jewelry! There’s the famous macaroni or bottle cap necklace, friendship bracelets, or even earrings made out of buttons! Don’t want to have to get your glue out? Check out these fun bracelets- that I have my eye on!
Not necessarily items that you go out and purchase, but perhaps something that she has circled in a catalog, or maybe even a gift card to her favorite store. How about matching mother daughter outfits? Too weird? As a mom of 4 girls, I long for the days that my daughters want to match with me, so I say embrace it now if you have the option.
Personally, I love food gifts. What’s a food gift? Maybe chocolates, ice cream, breakfast in bed, or dinner out! Heck, even bringing food in makes a lot of moms happy! I don’t like grocery shopping, so maybe this year in addition to yard work, I will make a grocery list.
Need more ideas? Come say hi!
Happy Mother’s Day!
