💡 TLDR
I actually survived a full fortress loop in 37°C heat and it was a total highlight! Between getting invited onto random live streams and eating life-changing seafood in Busan, South Korea is officially living up to all the hype.
Y’all aren’t ready for how much South Korea absolutely lived up to the hype. Traveling during a literal heatwave was a total test, but I powered through everything from Seoul’s chaos to Busan’s coastal vibes. Completing the full fortress loop in 37C heat wasn’t even in the plan, but honestly? It ended up being one of the absolute highlights of the whole journey.
The Local Energy Is Everything
The people were seriously the best part of the entire trip. Everywhere we went, locals were so incredibly chatty and kind—asking where we were from, helping with directions, or even handing out free water because of the heat. I was even invited into three different live streams, which was such a fun experience. For most of these creators, I was literally the first person who looked like me they’d ever talked to, so the connection felt so real.

Food And Unforgettable Views
If you are planning a trip, please do yourself a favor and go to Haemok in Busan immediately. It’s officially landed in my top two meals of all time, and the best part is that you don’t even need to pre-book a table. Between the food and the views—like exploring Suwon or walking across the Gamaksan Suspension Bridge during our DMZ tour—the scenery never missed. Even though the DMZ tour felt a little rushed, it was an incredibly educational way to see a side of the country most tourists miss. From Gyeongbokgung Palace to Nami Island, every stop hit different.
