The rapper is gearing up for the release of her fifth studio album, Vie, out September 26th, and she’s leaving her trolling days behind. “I’m so excited, I can barely contain myself!” she tells NYLON. “My fans are over the leaks, it’s time to let the music speak for itself.”
But before the album drops, Doja Cat has graced us with a stunning debut campaign as MAC Cosmetics’ Global Brand Ambassador. And guess what? She did her own makeup! “I was very strong about that,” she says. The campaign, surprisingly subdued compared to her usual neon vibes, features the singer wearing nothing but MAC’s Studio Fix Fluid Foundation and an ’80s-style blowout.
Working with the new Global Creative Director, Nicola Formichetti, was a dream come true for Doja Cat. “He gets me,” she says. “I feel like I’m playing dress up with my friends when I work with him.”

So which ’80s beauty trend is her favorite? “They were doing eyeshadow in such an incredible way, but my favorite thing they did was take the blush and marry it into the eyeshadow,” she gushes. “It’s almost like everything was one thing.”
For her upcoming tour, Doja Cat plans to bring along MAC’s Extended Play Gigablack Lash Mascara and Lady Danger lipstick. And don’t worry, no plums this time!

Remember the fake lipstick she ate at the VMAs a few weeks ago? Well, edible lipstick could become a reality in the future! “That’s something of my dreams,” she says. “But the chef we worked with was absolutely incredible.”
So who’s her ultimate ’80s icon? “Grace Jones is probably my ultimate ’80s icon,” she reveals. “Gary Numan is a big one for me too.”
