Recently, Kristin teamed up with Athleta to redesign their Train Free Sports Bra ($55). The inspiration? Her mother’s breast cancer journey. “I didn’t really know life without cancer surrounding me,” she told Popsugar. Her mom battled cancer for much of Kristin’s childhood and, sadly, never got to see her become the successful designer she is today. But her mom fostered and encouraged Kristin’s creativity growing up.
As a child, that meant competitive dance, where technique was impressive, but costumes were Kristin’s real passion. Fast forward to 31-year-old Kristin, and she’s channeled that love for costumes into creating game day outfits. Now, with the Train Free Sports Bra, she’s combining her love for fashion with a mission: promoting breast health.

That includes both men and women diagnosed with breast cancer, as well as relatives, family members, and friends who have been impacted by breast cancer at some point in their lives. “With cancer, it doesn’t matter your age, your ethnicity, nothing – it can affect anybody.”
